Each year, about 2700 cases of primary central nervous system tumors are diagnosed in Poland. Out of that, about 2300 cases end in death.
They are, therefore, within the top ten most common cancer types with the highest mortality rate. The goal of the Stop Tumors project is the development of a globally innovative technology of intracranial electric field generation in the form of an implant meant to fight brain cancer. The implant would be surgically placed within the body of a person diagnosed with a brain tumor during a single neurosurgery procedure. The technology used by the implant to combat the tumor utilizes a high frequency electrical field that stops the tumor cells from dividing and leads to the death of cancerous cells, leaving healthy brain tissue intact.
